What My Faith is About

I grew up in a neutrally Christian home. We went to church often enough for me to remember vacation Bible schools, Easter dresses, and confirmation classes, but I don’t remember any faith building or teaching in my home. As a teen deep in peer dependancy and seeking approval, I felt lost most days. One morning, I went to a Baptist church on own and heard for the first time about my utter need for salvation. My heart was quickened. I ‘walked the aisle’ and thought I became a Christian at that moment. I studied the Bible some and grew some, but then fell away. I left for college still deep in behaviors and beliefs that were leading me no where near Christ. I made some terrible decisions in college and left there with scars and memories no young woman should have. Finally, at the age of twenty-one, after a loving comment from a friend living for God, I sought help in Scripture. I found it… and I was found. I now understand that I was truly transformed that night because I made Jesus Christ my Lord and Savior. My behavior started to change that very night. The sanctification process is long and I won’t be fully holy until I stand before my God on the other side of this life, but He is molding me while I walk this Earth. I am not the same woman I was almost twenty years ago and I’m not the same woman I was a year ago, by the grace of God.

I believe Jesus is God and the Son of God. That He has always been and always will be. That He came to earth to pay the debt of sinners. I believe He was crucified, died and was buried. That three days later He was resurrected and now sits at the right hand of God interceding on my behalf. I believe the Holy Spirit always has been and always will be and that He is now the One moving mens’ hearts, leading them to salvation and prompting spirits to obedience. I believe the Bible is the infallible inspired Word of God. I believe it is useful for “teaching, correcting, rebuking and training in righteousness” (2 Tim 3:16) and that God reveals Himself through it. I believe that God is sovereign, loving and just.

I believe that there is no other way to God (“I am the way, the truth and the life.  No one comes to the Father except through me” John 14: 6) and that there are no other prophets or heavenly sent messengers since New Testament times.

My faith is about living for God, through Christ, enabled by the Holy Spirit. My heart’s desire is to glorify Him in all I do.

Found you through the classroom blog hop…love your kitchen classroom :):)
Your blog caught my eye because my daughter is named Grace. She is now 3.5 and I delivered her 9 months to the day that my Savior revealed Himself to me (thus the name Grace)
I have a similar story only I went 20 extra years before my eyes were opened. We all come to Our Lord with a different story but it’s amazing to me how once were there the feelings are so strongly similar. My greatest wish is that everyone on earth would come before the Savior and be blessed and filled by His love and grace. Living out our faith is our way to spread His blessings…you have done a beautiful job of this through your testimony…I feel blessed to have read it and encouraged that day by day more eyes will be opened and share in our joy.
Your sister in Christ

The redemption process is so beautiful and I love to hear others story of it. Thank you so much for sharing it and for the witness it is to those reading it. I also appreciate your depth. It is obvious that you know what you believe and why you believe it. Praying for you and your beautiful family.

Blessing to you 🙂

Oh Mindy, I just had to hop over from my FB page and check out your book/website. You have such a lovely personality and story. I’m always inspired by fellow Christian encouragers. Love, love, love the idea behind your book. While I’m finished having children (I turn 40 in May and my hubby is 11 years older than me) I’m sure I have readers who may find your book quite helpful. I’d love to have you write a guest post for my site, if you’d like, and you can of course add a link and image of your book. Email me if you’re interested and we can talk more about it. Blessings to you!
