Sometimes God pushes me to grow in areas I don’t really want to do so.  Sometimes He asks me to put my money where my mouth is, so to speak.  Sometimes I hate that.

I have been speaking on beauty and challenging you and myself to grow in the area of body image and how we view ourselves.  I have really, really wanted to change how I view beautiful.   And I have.  In how I view beauty in others.

But not myself.

I have a different standard for myself.  And I haven’t addressed that.

And then God made me.

I really have my friend Autumn to blame too.  Her and God.

Coming on the heels of my posts about beauty, came Autumn’s posts about her new lashes and make up.  She was thrilled.  And her eyes looked fantastic.  I wrestled with the idea of trying the Younique 3D Fiber Lash Mascara.

Why wrestled?  Well…. I am what you call make up challenged.  Seriously.

Every mascara I’ve tried has left me looking like a raccoon.  With no lashes.

I even had them tinted a few times.  Didn’t help. Despite wanting to accent my eyes.

I think the eyes are where natural beauty can really shine. Our eyes can encourage feeling beautiful and looking beautiful.

I thought trying the 3D mascara would give me an opportunity to start walking in the idea that God created me beautiful.  And I really, really want to believe that.

The first time I tried the 3D mascara was a complete flop.  And that’s when the whispers in my head changed to screams.  The ones I’ve heard my entire life: You are ugly and you’ll always be ugly.  You can’t do anything to help that.

My precious friend Autumn picked me up and quelled the voices.  I don’t think she knows how much she helped me that night.  As silly as it sounds, God and I were wrestling that day.  Wrestling with the idea that everyone is beautiful.  Even me.

He has made all everything beautiful in the own time. Ecclesiastes 3:11

And I fully believe that God defines beautiful differently that the Western world.  I just haven’t exactly figured out His entire list.  I do know that He cares more about the heart, though.

Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised. Proverbs 31:30

So, God creates beauty.  He makes things beautiful.  He also desires godliness and declares fruit of the Spirit beautiful.

As I wrestled with trying to embrace both of these ideas, I saw God’s hand in the timing of it all.  My writing about the need to rethink how we view beauty, my increased struggle in doing so, a friend who wanted to help, and some products that interested and intrigued me.

I had in my hands a chance to do a few things.  And I decided to take a step of faith.   While selling all natural beauty products may not seem like that big of a deal, it really is for me.

I’m stepping out of my comfort zone to attack my ideas of beauty for myself.  And I’m meeting God there.

I have four daughters and I want to win this battle and glorify the Lord, so….

True Beauty Younique Presenter Lashes Plus

I am now a Younique Presenter because:

I want to learn to see the beauty in me.  I want to accentuate the aspects of myself that I think are beautiful.  I want my eyes to shine.

I want to help others see the beauty in themselves.  I do not believe everyone needs makeup.  I don’t.  I do know, however, that we can accentuate our best assets with little tricks, involving make up.  I want to encourage others to feel confident to do this.

I want make-up challenged women to learn to accentuate their beauty. There are many of us out there: the make up challenged.  I am learning, so I know others can too.

I want to help redefine beautiful.  This is actually going to be the toughest part of this step for me.  To sell beauty products in today’s world, you have to post photos of yourself highlighting the products.  I hate posting photos of myself.  Hate it.  BUT I know that if those of us who believe we are not beautiful hide ourselves, then the world’s lies win. There is a difference between sharing and this kind of self absorbed behavior, and I doubt I’ll go there, but you never know. I will be praying and asking Paul to hold me in check.

I want to raise funds for our adoption. We have $5,000 more to raise for our adoption funds, so anything I can do to work for that helps.  This is one way I can work from home.

I want all natural, high quality make up for free. One of the perks is that I can earn free products, which saves me money down the road because I don’t have to spend it on make up I would buy anyway.  That will make Paul happy.

I believe there is a niche market for the 3D Fiber Lash Mascara.  Even if a woman is happy with her current make up, the 3D Fiber Lash Mascara is a unique product.  It makes a big difference with a product almost all make up wearers wear: mascara.  The fact that it is all natural, hypo-allergenic, gluten free, cruelty free, and has a 14 day money back no questions asked guarantee makes buying it even easier.  This product actually gave me noticable lashes for the firs time.

Will this endeavor do all of this? I don’t know.  It will be a challenge for sure.  Homeschooling five kiddos, earning my Biblical counseling certification, writing Bible studies, blogging, parenting, and wife-ing… it’s a lot.

Still… with Autumn as my sponsor and some worthy goals, I am determined to give this a real go.

I’m going to follow where God is leading, even if it is is so far outside my comfort zone that I can’t even see my comfort zone anymore.

I’d love for Him to change my mindset on something I think He can’t change.

Wouldn’t it be great if I could meet all of these goals?  While the money and the products would be fantastic, the other goals are where my heart is.

Let’s do this, Lord!
