Ah, it’s my favorite time of year!  (Not including Bluebonnet season in the Texas Hill Country, of course.)

I simply love setting up my schoolroom, buying new pencils & notebooks, and organizing our materials.  Love. It.  Since I try to be honest with y’all, I will admit that I like it even more than actually doing the homeschooling.           😉

Thankfully, it’s going much better than when we moved last time.  Yikes.

I’ve shown you our school room before, but we have a new one this year.  It’s a bit on the odd side, but I believe it will work out just fine.  I’d like to show you our room and share a few new tips for the year BUT…

I’d also love to see your homeschool room, so I’m giving you time to prepare.  On August 7th, it will be homeschool room day!  I will post that day.  If you have a blog, link up with some photos of your homeschool room (or your classroom, if you are a out of home teacher!).  If you don’t have a blog, take some photos and share them on my Facebook page.

I’m always inspired by seeing others’ work spaces and I bet you will be too, so come back August 7th and share the school room love!

Also, next week I’ll share what curriculum we’re going to be using this year.  I’ve decided most everything.  Have you? Come share your curriculum choices next Tuesday, July 31st.   Tuesdays will be homeschool topic days from now on.  If you have questions you’d like me to answer on those days, email me.  I’d be happy to share.

Lastly, Tuesday, August 14th will be homeschool students day!  Come share the photos of your students for the year.

Back to what I’m doing right now… Besides getting the room organized, I’m also:

  • printing out our history (a new curric this year!)
  • setting our up color coded binders
  • making our Scripture memory papers
  • looking up field trips for our “new” area
  • buying books
  • organizing the shelves by unit of study and age group
  • looking for cheap first two weeks of school rewards
  • creating our daily/weekly schedule
If you are getting ready for your first week ever or just your first week, you might want to read this post.  Even though this will be our fourteenth year, you can see I’m doing items on that list.
I really do enjoy this part.  It’s a time full of hope and excitement about what we will accomplish this school year.

Are you gearing up?

Don’t forget to come back for the following link ups: July 31- curriculum; August 7- school room; August 14- student photos.
