Trusting in His Grace

My mom suddenly aspirated tonight and went to be with Jesus. We are grateful for the 15 months we had with her since her diagnosis of ALS. We had time to say things we wanted to say and do things we wanted to do. And the LORD was merciful and took her home before the disease caused more suffering.

I’m not going to pretend this will be easy to walk through. She was my mom. I already miss her. But I am trusting in His Grace- it is sufficient. He is sufficient.

2 Corinthians 12:9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.

I know He numbered her days and that this was her last one no matter what.
Psalm 139: 15-16 My frame was not hidden from you
when I was made in the secret place.
When I was woven together in the depths of the earth,
your eyes saw my unformed body.
All the days ordained for me
were written in your book
before one of them came to be.

I am a tad bit jealous she has seen Jesus’s face already.

I Corinthians 13: 12 Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face.

Mom and PL’s pastor read this tonight. It has always been one of my favorites.
Psalm 46
1 God is our refuge and strength,
an ever-present help in trouble.
2 Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way
and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,
3 though its waters roar and foam
and the mountains quake with their surging.
4 There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God,
the holy place where the Most High dwells.
5 God is within her, she will not fall;
God will help her at break of day.
6 Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall;
he lifts his voice, the earth melts.
7 The LORD Almighty is with us;
the God of Jacob is our fortress.
8 Come and see the works of the LORD,
the desolations he has brought on the earth.
9 He makes wars cease to the ends of the earth;
he breaks the bow and shatters the spear,
he burns the shields [b] with fire.
10 “Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth.”
11 The LORD Almighty is with us;
the God of Jacob is our fortress.

Prayers for me and my family (especially PL, her husband and my stepwonderfuldad) would be apppreciated.

I bet she helps the LORD get my mansion decorated.

in Christ Alone
